Country Road cares about the health of the world’s oceans.
We’re committed to reducing our impact, striving for innovation and rethinking the way we use plastic.
We’re looking for ways to use recycled materials as the basis of our products, and are unlocking the value of existing resources when sourcing our materials.
This means less waste, and therefore less plastic seeping back into our oceans.
There’s a number of ways in which we’re already incorporating recycled materials into new products.
Recycled nylon for swim
Our swim collections are made using recycled nylon, which is sourced from discarded fishing nets and factory off-cuts that might otherwise pollute the ocean.
We regenerate these plastics into a beautiful high performance nylon, adding elastane for increased stretch and durability. This gives us our blend of 78% recycled nylon and 22% elastane.
Recycled ocean plastics for jewellery + store fixtures
Marine Debris Bakelite is a material made from 100% recycled plastic that has been collected from Australian beaches. Turning ocean waste into a resource, it rethinks the way we can approach products destined for waste.
Marine Debris Bakelite is in itself beautiful, with a marble quality similar to early plastics, lending the product design integrity. The plastic is sorted by colour, to achieve the striking marble effect.
