We seek to enrich the lives of people around us and the place we call home.
We all have a role to play in caring for our world, and ours starts through industry collaboration.
Textile Exchange fosters cross-sector collaboration and shared learning to minimise the fashion industry’s impact on the world’s water, soil, air and people.
The organisation works with brands, suppliers and non-government organisations (NGOs) to set a global benchmark for the responsible use of fibres, and the best practice in relation to farming, materials, processing, traceability and the product life cycle.
As a member of Textile Exchange, Country Road has access to resources and global insights into leading sustainable practices worldwide. We can then take these recommendations on board to improve our environmental practices throughout all levels of our supply chain.
It also means we can connect with other brands and industry stakeholders, to share information and collectively navigate complex issues in our supply chain.
Responsible Wool Standard
One benchmark set by Textile Exchange is the Responsible Wool Standard. This standard promotes animal welfare and sustainable land management, addressing the needs of sheep as well as the land they graze on.
As a member of Textile Exchange, Country Road is working towards greater support of the Responsible Wool Standard. We recognise the Responsible Wool Standard as being one of the key certifications in our Responsible Wool Strategy.
Organic Content Standard
Another benchmark set by Textile Exchange is the Organic Content Standard. The Organic Content Standard is a way of tracking organic fibres from farm to product. It certifies that a fibre has been grown according to strict organic farming practices. This means without the use of artificial pesticides and fertilisers, or genetically modified seeds. However, these fibres are subject to chemical dyes and processing once they reach the factory.
The Organic Content Standard is just one way of certifying the organic material in our products.
Recycled Claim Standard
The Recycled Claim Standard is a way of verifying the use of recycled materials in a product. At Country Road, we’re on a journey to increase our circularity initiatives, including incorporating recycled materials in our design process across the business. The TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ fibres used in our Sateen Jeans have achieved the Recycled Claim Standard.
Global Recycled Standard
The Global Recycled Standard verifies the use of recycled materials in a product, as well as responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in production. Its objective is to promote better working conditions and reduce the potential of harmful environmental impact. The recycled nylon used in our swimwear has achieved the Global Recycled Standard.
