The height of the Australian summer is certainly not for the fainthearted. Chic yet effortless is the memo of the moment - the sweltering sun calls for easy, lightweight pieces that will work just as well at the beach as they do for afternoon drinks. At home in Sydney, Arianne Witt of Lola Jagger walks us through how she’s styling the season out.
"For summer I'm all about relaxed denim, crisp whites, lightweight linen and a beautiful pair of sunglasses. I love anything that's easy and can be mixed and matched effortlessly. This season I'll be living in this white denim overall dress – a touch of fresh white with my favourite tee or by itself over a swimsuit."
"A pair of black slouchy pants is definitely a must – they're sleek, chic and comfortable. I love to dress mine up with a pair of black strappy sandals or dress them down with a pair of sneakers."
"One thing I’m excited about is diving into a sea of sorbet colours for summer: think pastel pink and blue hues, chambray and burnt orange. It's always a good idea to have a number of tees and strappy tops in an array of colours on hand so that you don’t always reach for the white or grey options. I’ll be pairing these with a denim skirt or white linen pants."
"When it comes to my wardrobe for hot days and balmy nights, I look for versatility, comfort and anything uncomplicated, which is why the denim wrap skirt is an essential. It's going to be your best friend, especially if you're a beach baby like me. This is a necessity for afternoon cocktails after a sunset dip or for weekend barbeques by the ocean."
"Another easy style I can't get enough of is the floaty dress, I don’t think I've ever seen a summer dress I didn't like! This little blush pink number is going to be perfect for a wedding, a weekend away or a summer soirée."
For the final touch my accessory favourite is a great pair of sunglasses; I own too many yet I still don't have enough! In my eyes they are a key component to pulling together the perfect summer outfit. I'll be keeping a tortoise shell, black and red pair on high rotation.
