Sweet little Talloh Sage only came into the world a few short months ago, but has so far proven that there is nothing quite like the joy that a newborn baby brings. Here, her parents Madison and Rob invite us into their home to take an intimate look at their beautiful new family, where Madison talks to us about motherhood.
Congratulations on Talloh Sage – she is simply divine! What do you adore most about your new little family?
“People try to explain the type of new love you experience with the arrival of your first baby, but to experience it is a whole new world of emotions. Seeing the way Rob looks at her makes me love them both more and more every day. I love the moments all three of us spend together; it’s in these moment everything feels perfect and I feel so blessed that we get to guide this little human through life.”
How has motherhood changed your perspective so far?
“My perspective on love has changed: both what I feel and how I show it. I want to make sure this baby girl always knows how loved she is, and that Rob knows how much we both love and appreciate him and everything he does for us.”
What surprises you most about motherhood?
“I am continually amazed to see this tiny baby’s natural instincts kick in; seeing her know how to take her first breath, to feed and to communicate in her own little way. Intuition is an incredible thing. The bond I felt with her from the minute I met her is unbreakable. “
What have been some of the biggest challenges so far for you and Rob?
“Adjusting to less quality time between Rob and I. Sometimes in these early weeks it has felt like we are in a tag team race; when he gets home I usually go for a rest and he takes Talloh. Rob’s biggest challenge would be the usual lack of sleep, he is a personal trainer so long, late nights are not really helpful with early starts! But it’s all so worth it.”
What excites you most about the road ahead?
“Getting to know Talloh, helping her develop her spirit of adventure and creativity while nurturing her little personality. Being able to show and teach somebody about the world is an incredible blessing.”
What is your new daily routine like?
“I have always been an early riser, waking with the sunrise. This has thankfully been a great habit to somewhat prepare me for motherhood. My mornings used to be a little slower than they are now though; now we wake early and head out for a walk along the headland and down to the beach with Talloh’s little cousin who lives next door. Then we spend some time down by the ocean for a breakfast picnic before heading back home to start the day. As Talloh gets older and the weather warms up, I am sure she will join Rob on his morning dip in the ocean.”
How did you approach pregnancy style?
“My style didn’t change too much thankfully! The later part of my pregnancy was through the middle of winter so I wore a lot of oversized button-up shirts with skinny jeans and boots. I did need to invest in a pair of slip-on mules to make quick getaways out of the house a little easier.”
What do you love most about living by the beach? Was it a conscious decision that you wanted to raise your family by the seaside?
“Both Rob and I grew up by the ocean so it’s almost just habitual for us to be close by. When we travel away from it we really notice how grounding and refreshing it is for us both, and how much we really love it. You can’t really beat sunrise over the ocean! We love that Talloh can spend early summer mornings by the beach, then later rugged up winter walks to collect special treasures.”
