Finally, we are on the cusp of summer. Days are getting warmer and longer, and the night's more balmy. This means a little more skin on show, shorter hemlines, softer, lighter fabrics and fun, playful accessories. Now is the time to get our wardrobes resort-wear ready.

Being quite a monochrome dresser, my approach to resort style is to search for interesting details and textures. This makes a look feel more summery — even if I’m still in all black. For this season, fringing, raffia, suede and silky textures are making a big appearance and when mixed together they create unique looks which are perfect for day-to-night dressing.
My ideal summer morning involves brunch by the ocean, either at Bondi, Bronte or the Northern Beaches, followed by a quick dip. I like to keep things light and simple, with a silky tie-front short and knotted cape top which are cool and comfortable, perfect for a sunny morning. A raffia hat makes for the perfect accessory, being both stylish and practical, it makes the transition from breakfast to beach too easy. Tie-up suede sandals and a little shell cuff tie the look together, making you feel like you’re on a Grecian holiday.
It’s also more than okay to double up every now and then, so this embroidered clutch transitions perfectly into my nighttime look. I’m embracing this season's fringing trend in this matching bandeau strapless top and skirt, I love the texture and detail captured with each movement. What I often miss most in high summer is layering, so I look to my accessories to do the work. In this case, layering two fine necklaces makes my outfit feel complete.
On a balmy evening, sunset drinks and dinner at Bondi is my absolute favourite. I’ll either head to North Bondi Fish or Icebergs to take in the view over a cocktail and a beautiful meal. If there's a very special occasion, I can’t go past dinner at Pilu on Freshwater Beach — it’s where I got married so will always be a very special place, it’s so serene in the evening. I highly recommend a moonlit walk along the beach after dinner!
