Here at Country Road HQ we’re changing the way we approach design and sourcing. We’re looking across Australia and the globe, striving to find the most sustainable, ethical and innovative materials. Enter the Ray Sneaker. Here, we talk to Kirby Hanrahan, Design Manager, who shares all the exciting elements that make up this brand new sneaker.
“We wanted to craft a classic sneaker with sustainability in mind: introducing the Ray Sneaker, our best sneaker yet. Designed with the earth in mind, we’ve used the highest quality and responsibly sourced materials.”
“It has a clean profile with classic lace-up styling and an embossed logo tab at the heel. It’s finished with our classic rubber outsole with a padded insole for extra comfort.”
“The sneaker’s upper is made from 100% leather, sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries. LWG regularly audit tanneries to ensure they meet the highest environmental standards that include the use of water, energy, chemicals and responsible waste water treatment.”
“The sneaker’s lining and laces are made of cotton. By buying cotton at Country Road, you’re supporting responsibly grown cotton through the Better Cotton Initiative.”
“The box packaging is made from responsibly sourced fibre. The lid, base and tissue paper are 100% recyclable.”
“The sneaker trend shows no sign of slowing down. They’re a favourite here at Country Road, we love them because they are so versatile, one of the most hardworking pieces in your wardrobe. We see it styled back three ways, with denim, with pleated flowy skirts or with relaxed suiting options to work.”
