Nothing says autumn quite like unpredictable weather patterns, increasingly grey skies and trans-seasonal fashion choices. As the days grow darker and the clouds start to fill the sky, it's important to acquire some wardrobe staples for the post-summer season to hold you in good stead as winter approaches.

An oversized cosy knit cardigan is one such must-have and is personally my number one go-to as a trans-seasonal layering piece. It is super versatile and can easily be thrown on over denim shorts, summer dresses, skinny jeans or even delicate camis. Add a pair of your favourite flats or brogues and you have yourself the perfect autumn outfit.
Another standout piece this season is the jersey midi dress. With a tie-up waist designed especially to flatter the silhouette, this easy number is a style that will suit all body shapes. Again, the layering options are endless. Wear it over dark leggings or throw on a denim jacket for those cooler days.
While I know you can never go wrong with a great fitting pair of jeans, have you tried the jegging? It has all the benefits (and looks!) of denim but in a form-fitting, easy-moving fabric. Don't be afraid to try some alternate shades of denim, such as grey or charcoal. These tones will pair perfectly against the rest of your grey palette.
Next, let's talk accessories. Think woollen scarves, felt hats and fabric totes for the season ahead. A personal favourite is this chevron quilted wool carry-all, of which, in all its bottomless glory, can hold all your day-to-day necessities with room to spare. Now that's my kind of bag. And finally, don't be afraid to add a little flair or colour against the silver palette with a pair of blush pink sneakers or structured metallic brogues.
