Winter is here and the bedroom is the perfect place for a seasonal update. I prefer to keep things simple — once you have the basics sorted, it’s time to play with textures and layering pieces. Here are my simple tips when decorating the bedroom, especially in the colder months.
1. Inject colour.
Add a little or a lot. I’m a big fan of introducing colour the home and currently I'm loving pastel shades of mint or sea foam blue. Updating your bed linen instantly updates the look and feel of the entire space - it’s as simple as that.
Pattern and texture add visual interest to any room. Why not add a statement blanket in a check pattern or print to add a little personality to your bed?
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary for rest and relaxation so surround yourself with things that mean something to you and make you smile. (Fresh flowers beside the bed always make me smile.)
4. Add layers.
Mid-winter is the perfect time to add blankets, cushions and throws. They’re practical and easy on the eye, too. Layer them up.
Your bedside table is a great canvas to display your favourite and most treasured things. A tray is the perfect answer to hold all your smaller items and makes the framework for a chic bedside vignette.
It's okay to splurge on quality bed linen (really!). I'm a big fan of natural materials such as cotton and linen and love how they feel against the skin.
