The festive season has officially begun and no one is more excited than the little ones. To mark the occasion Milla, Archie and Raff Maxwell choose their favourite decorations and set about decorating their Christmas tree together.
“These beautiful, unstated ornaments tie in so well with our home. I adore the modern versions of stars, snowflakes, baubles and birds in wood and matte white. The silver stars are the perfect addition.”
“As soon as the decorating options were laid out and ready to go, Archie assessed his favourites and negotiated his placement. Milla then explained nicely that three decorations can’t go on a single branch and that the birds must be at the front. Raff occasionally swooped in to grab the delegated favourites to try to give to the dogs or look at himself in the reflection.”
“Wooden garlands were weaved into wreaths and ornaments were placed on our mantels as much as they were on the tree. Linen tablecloths and muted pastel plates are layered on the table with gold or black cutlery. I love to add in fresh greenery as we need so as to keep the senses going with the beautiful smell of Christmas.”
“The finished product is given the nod from the children and then a few more ribbons and miscellaneous items are added as final touches. Decorating the tree is only the start of our celebrations. It does mark the excitement that Christmas is coming and the question of ‘How many sleeps?’ has begun – I must get advent calendars soon!”
“The stockings are checked almost every day just in case Santa had a test run. They have begun to write their lists of what they want to buy everyone, and of course a few presents for themselves are noted and sent Santa’s way.”
