How To: Spring Cleaning With Citizens Of Style

4 Sep 2017

By Country Road

With the change of seasons it’s always refreshing to breathe new life into your home with some much needed spring cleaning. For most of us, we dread the thought of having to clean the house from top-to-toe but love the final results. Here you’ll find a few simple to tips to give your home a refresh.

Photography + videography by Lynden Foss and styling + words by Tahnee Carroll, both of Citizens Of Style.

Above left: mila large mixing bowl, mila medium mixing bowl, mila ramekin, issi measuring cups, adler a1 poster frame, gilli a4 frame, gilli tall vase, cumulus jug, lalia cake stand, egan timber box, remi medium canister, remi large canister, okto tea towel and gilli wide vase. Above right: nomi ash long bench, etta large vessel, etta small vessel, kara 5x7 frame, adler a1 poster frame, adler small frame and olivia large planter.
"The kitchen is usually the hub of the home and can easily feel cluttered. Remove everything and start afresh with a blank canvas. Group similar items in varying shapes and sizes to create mini vignettes, while keeping the groupings tonally alike to create a cleansing palette for spring."

"Inject some life: add a plant, or ten! It seems so simple but adding a natural element is a sure-fire way to cleanse and purify your home of unseen toxins in the air. After a cold winter our homes can feel stagnant because of the lack of airflow, so it’s important to consider air quality as well. Not only do plants spring clean your air but they look gorgeous too."

"Short on space? No worries, go vertical with the Nomi storage ladder, it’s a super easy way to display photo frames, plants and beautiful pieces while adding height and balance to a space."

"A change in season is the perfect excuse to update your interiors with new soft furnishings; subtle tones and textures give that fresh feeling and are easily changeable throughout the seasons. Paring back doesn’t have to be extreme; it’s more a case of removing the old to make space for the new. Spring is the perfect time to reassess what it is you love about your home, what is necessary and what is simply gathering dust."
