Meet the enigmatic Saasha Burns and Sam Leetham, who only just recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary in the gorgeous South of France. The oft-travelling couple were in sunny Palm Springs to celebrate the launch of their bespoke vitamin label, BEAR, in the US. The Californian modernist architecture provided the perfect backdrop for our new spring racing collection; a mix of toffees, blues, stripes and floral prints. Here, Saasha and Sam discuss their first year collaborating together to create BEAR, as well as their style tips and getting-ready routines for the spring carnival.

Being a Melbourne girl Saasha, what do you love most about the Spring Carnival?
"The spring racing season is one of my favourite times of year. Melbourne is electric, and it's such a great time to be home. There are so many things I love about the racing carnival - being outdoors in the sunshine with friends and family, the scent of the garden roses, watching the horses power down the straight trackside, and of course the fashion is a true highlight. Having recently travelled through Paris, London and New York, it makes me appreciate how strong Australian fashion is. We have such a sophisticated, yet effortless style and I can't wait for the spring racing carnival to begin."
You have joined forces to create BEAR, which was launched earlier this year, could you tell us a little how that journey going?
"It's been such an incredible year launching BEAR and our bespoke range of Essential Daily Vitamins with Mecca, and more recently the US with Free People. We've been so fortunate to partner with respected Australian designers and thought leaders throughout the journey, including Kit Willow of KITX and Dion Lee as part of MBFWA and NYFW. We are still on cloud nine from our US launch event at Frank Sinatra's Twin Palms estate in Palm Springs, where we celebrated with an intimate group of Leaders of Style under the desert night sky."
Could you please share your routines for getting ready for big events:
"Health is one of our greatest luxuries, and something we often take for granted. After travelling, it's natural to feel jet-lagged and low in energy so we take EXPLORE Essential Daily Vitamins every day, with activated Vitamin C and Rhodiola of therapeutic levels to help alleviate mild stress and fatigue. Healthy, clear skin is another important part of my morning beauty routine and I love gently cleansing my face, applying an antioxidant rich brightening serum, and a regenerative moisturiser before starting my makeup. The Plasma27 Bio-lifting cell restoring masks from Cosmetics 27 are also incredible for hydration just before an event!"
What are pieces are you loving for this spring racing season?
"I'm loving straw boaters! This black one is incredible, I can't wait to wear it to the carnival. I also love turban-style headbands and feminine, mid-length hemlines."
Sam, what are your top styling tips for men come the events season?
"Number one is a well-tailored suit. I like to keep it simple with a quality light-weight navy or grey fabric that allows me to have a little more fun with accessories. We love Liberty in London and the partnership between Liberty and Country Road is such an exciting one. I'm looking forward to wearing their signature floral prints throughout the carnival."
Do you both try to co-ordinate your outfits when attending events together?
"I think we naturally do! We always try to complement each other, and style pieces together to see what works best for the different race days."
Saasha, what trends are you looking towards for this carnival?
"I love the contrast of a feminine full length dress one day, and a softly tailored suit the next. The spring racing carnival is such a great opportunity to be playful and tell a story. I'm loving neutral, earthy tones at the moment and look forward to seeing everyone's unique sense of style at the carnival."
