We join Julia Ashwood of The Vista and her family on their recent trip in the Byron Bay hinterland. With Julia and Matty expecting their second baby soon, it was the perfect winter escape. Here they share a few of their favourite places in this beautiful part of Australia.

As the warmth of spring is on its way, it’s a nice time to stay in the one place for a little while, take it all in and just enjoy this lovely change of season.
Situated just out of Byron on the fringes of Tintenbar and Lennox Head, Paddock Hall is a gorgeous farm stay. It’s the perfect retreat with beautiful cafés, markets and waterfalls just a short drive away.
Located on the beach in Lennox Head, Shelter Café has a fresh, modern Australian menu and great coffee. Sit in the open air or grab a take away and stroll along the beach to the iconic headland, The Point.
In Clunes you will find a small batch winemaking company called Jilly's Wine. We love their organic red wines.
Woods Café in Bangalow has the best breakfast in town. It has an organic menu and a beautiful courtyard – perfect for the kids to run around.
Harvest Deli & Bakery
In a charming restored building, Harvest Deli & Bakery is stocked with delicious artisan produce. It has everything from wood-fired sourdough and pastries to cheese and condiments. In the evening visit their restaurant next door for dinner and cocktails.
The Bangalow Farmers’ Market
The Bangalow Farmers’ Market is on every Saturday. It's the perfect place for stocking up on fresh fruit, vegetables and handmade pasta.
A short walk through the rainforest along the winding creekside track you will find the beautiful Killen Falls. Perfect for swimming, it has a large basin with fresh rainwater. This can be popular on the weekends so it's best to go early.
