We're celebrating thirty years of Country Road home this year with a new approach to design, and some exciting new product lines. Here we talk to Danni Hosking-Haley, Head of Design - Home, where she touches on her morning routine, how she unwinds and where she seeks inspiration.

Could you walk us through a typical morning:
"My mornings begin with my darling husband bringing me a cup of tea which I enjoy in bed with my dog Rupert. I get up and head to Pilates, then pop on a podcast as I drive to work: my current rotation is TED Talks, GOOP, Armchair Expert or Atelier Dore. This is a really important part of morning - I get to listen to amazing and interesting intellectuals, the interviews challenge the way I think and inspire me to do better. It almost always allows me to arrive to work in a great mood."
"Once I’m in the office my team and I have our morning coffees together. This is a key moment – it affords us the opportunity to download on the tasks ahead of us that day, collaborate on ideas and check in with each other. The rest of the day is meetings, meetings, meetings! Design meetings, where I am always inspired and challenged by my exceptionally talented team; planning with my merch angels who give me wings to fly; and strategy with the executive team - I always walk out of these sessions feeling so encouraged and supported."
How do you unwind after a big day?
"If I need a little wellness lift, I love an infrared sauna at Nimbus & Co. I love the hot box concept, it's time to myself and a pause point in between work and home. It allows me to detox both mentally and physically and the heat is a challenge, which I love!"
"A walk around the tan or reading something on my kindle are other opportunities to unwind. My taste in books is quite eclectic, I enjoy a little bit of everything. For example I just finished When Life Gives You LuluLemons, which was a hoot, but before that I read The Tattooist of Auchwitz. I also ensure I read Elle Roseby's recommendations for us; Legacy by James Kerr is a key one."
"Some nights though it’s a glass of wine and cheese platter with friends. I love to cook and find the whole process of entertaining an amazing creative outlet. From planning the menu, preparing and sharing the food, dressing the table, arranging the guest list - the whole thing is an exercise in art direction."
What is your approach to design?
"I prefer to be collaborative, to think outside the box, and get in the mind of our customer, all the while exploring the DNA of Country Road with a focus on the future. I believe in freedom within structure and emulate this in my work style."
What excites you most about this role?
"Working with the incredible team to make Country Road the leading lifestyle brand."
What can we look forward to in home this year?
"We are celebrating 30 years of Country Road homeware this year, and we have exciting new ranges launching throughout the year as well ranges that nod to the coveted classic products that we were famous for - watch this space!"
Where do you source inspiration from?
"The CR Team & my Homeware team inspire me every day. Designing homewares is the ultimate expression of celebrating life in style. I believe you should surround yourself with beauty and style, as it enhances your everyday. It is essential for style to be attainable and life-proof. I am inspired by iconic designers and style mavens - I'm infatuated with women like Lauren Santo Domingo and Aerin Lauder, architecture, art, travel and living life full of fun and fabulous experiences."
