& Sourcing Circularity
Recognising the limitations of our world's natural
resources, we are exploring regenerative opportunities
and ways to innovate our supply chain.
Natural Traceable Fibres
Valuing the provenance of our products, we always strive for visibility of where and how our raw materials are farmed. When we can trace the natural fibres used in our garments, we can ensure the finest quality as well as higher animal welfare standards and land management.
Country Road is committed to supporting Australian farmers. We have created a collection of knits where we can trace each and every fibre of the garments to a small number of farms located around Australia that are committed to sustainable farming practices.

Country Road is proud to support the Australian cotton industry. Australian cotton growers are leaders in sustainable farming practices, both in their water efficiency and use of drought resistant cotton varietals. The Australian growers who supply the cotton used in our garments are supporters of the Better Cotton Initiative.

Conventional cotton farming has a big environmental impact. This is why we are undertaking several initiatives that support more responsible farming, and supporting innovative practices that balance the production of cotton with protecting our ecosystem.
Country Road is committed to supporting sustainable cotton farming practices by partnering with the Better Cotton Initiative to transform cotton production globally.
Learn More about BCI
Country Road sources organic cotton for selected ranges. Organic cotton is grown without chemicals and according to strict environmental standards that are audited independently. These practices are better for the environment and for the farmers and their communities.
Deriving from trees, viscose, modal and lyocell are fabrics that we use throughout our collections. It’s estimated that 150 million trees are logged every year to produce cellulosic fibres, a third of which are from ancient and endangered forests.
Protecting our forests
Country Road is working with Canopy to eliminate the use of wood sourced from ancient and endangered forests in fabrics made from cellulosic fibres. Canopy works to secure large-scale forest conservation to transform supply changes to a more sustainable model.

The production of denim is often synonymous with water waste; the process of washing denim uses thousands of litres of the finite resource. We’re looking at all areas of our supply chain for innovative measures that can reduce any waste we can.
Low Water Wash Processing
We have worked with Jeanologia® to develop a low impact washing process for our Country Road men’s denim range. Jeanologia® have developed Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM) software to analyse the environmental impact of denim wash processing, which has determined that 50% less water has been used in this range compared with the global standard.
