To make it suitable for use in clothing and accessories, leather is often professionally tanned using chemical treatments. This tanning process can be polluting and dangerous for workers in the supply chain.
Leather Working Group
Country Road is a proud member of the Leather Working Group (LWG). This means we preference leather manufactured in LWG rated tanneries. LWG tanneries adhere to a strict protocol relating to environmental performance, such as energy and water usage, waste management and the control of restricted substances. We are still working towards eradicating the use of leather manufactured in non LWG-certified tanneries throughout our collections.
Our sourcing commitment
We ban the use of all exotic animal skins and any endangered species which appear on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) or the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
